A structural kit that simulates architectural behaviour

Spotted: A Brazilian designer Marcio Sequeira has built the Mola structural kit to intuitively understand the foundations of structural behaviour. The kit consists of modular pieces that allow users to understand concepts like cable behaviour, suspension bridges and cable-net systems. They can also purchase additional adjustable length bars and lightweight connections for more precision in their models.

“The idea of Mola came during my structural classes in university. As a student, I always thought that those classes were very abstract and I have been working on the project since then,” explained founder and creator Marcio Sequeira.

After 10 years of design development, he launched the first Mola kit in 2014 and gained financial support via crowdfunding campaign. He has recently launched Mola Kit 3, which now includes cable suspensions and tools that enable more precision when constructing the model. This kit is now the most-funded project in Brazil. It has received funding from renowned engineering companies and universities across Brazil.
